Pedagogical Committee

Maple Bear’s pedagogical committee is made up of professionals with broad educational experience. They provide academic support to the schools, always seeking to improve teaching quality and ensure the high excellence standards adopted by Maple Bear.

Aparecida Rivetti
  • Principal of Maple Bear Alphaville-SP;
  • Founding partner and pedagogical director of Fernão Gaivota School(Colégio Fernão Gaivota);
  • Graduated in pedagogy by USP, has over 30 years of experience in educational area;
  • Focus of interest: reading and writing acquisition within a socio constructivist perspective (Piaget).
Teach. Doc. Francisco Gomes de Matos
  • Graduated in Literature by the Federal University of Pernambuco (Universidade Federal de Pernambuco) and in Linguistics by the University of Michigan at PUC São Paulo;
  • Visiting Professor at the University of Texas (Austin), Mexico, Ottawa, and Georgia (Athens, USA);
  • President of the Counsil of ABA – Associação Brasil America, maintainer of Maple Bear Recife;
  • Published several books, articles, works and poems about humanism.
Teacher Doc. José Luiz Dias Gherpelli
  • Tenured Professor in Pediatric Neurology, by the Faculty of Medicine of USP (Faculdade de Medicina da USP);
  • PhD in Neurology by the Faculty of Medicine of USP;
  • Doctor of Pediatric Neurology Service at the Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP;
  • Consultant in Neuropediatrics of Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein;
  • President of the Pediatric Neurology Department of Brazilian Society of Pediatry;
  • Supervisor of the PhD Course in Neurology at the Faculty of Medicine of USP.
Breno Lerner
  • Writer and general manager of Melhoramentos, the country’s largest publisher of children’s books, where he’s been working since 1989;
  • Graduated in Administration, he’s been a Marketing teacher and has edited several books during the last 25 years;
  • Worked at the publishers Abril and Globo.
Richard Debre
  • Pedagogic Director and co-owner of Maple Bear Mogi das Cruzes;
  • Graduated in Pedagogy by the University of Mogi das Cruzes with License to Child and Elementary Education
  • Undergraduate Research in Educational Psychology;
  • Technician in Performing Arts;
  • University Extension in Language Acquisition and Bilingualism at PUC, SP;
  • International Experience: High School (Senior) in Vashon Island, WA – USA at Vashon Island High School and Interculture Program in Bradenton, FL - USA  at Bollettieri;
  • Practice Riding;
  • Main focus: language acquisition in childhood, mathematics in early grades and school psychology.
Virginia Balau
  • Director of the Maple Bear Portuguese Language Program;
  • Specialist in children literacy and consultant at the most prestigious schools;
  • Graduated in Pedagogy by the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas (Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas) and post graduated in Education Psychology at PUC in São Paulo.
Ciro de Figueiredo
  • President of ANE - Associação A Natureza do Ensino;
  • General Manager of Friburgo School (Colégio Friburgo) and Jean Piaget Educational Institute (Instituto Educacional Jean Piaget);
  • Former president of Private Schools Association Group (Grupo Associação de Escolas Particulares);
  • Teacher of Basic Education at the University;
  • Graduated in Philosophy, Teology and post graduated in Communication;
  • Is dedicated to the study of psychoanalysis and education and teaching methodologies.
Yara Tandel
  • Principal of Maple Bear Niterói;
  • Art Educator, Clinic Psychomotrician, Family and Couple Therapist specialist in Cognitive Mediation;
  • Post Graduation degree in Education;
  • Dedicated to the development of models for the teaching-learning relationship during the 8 years directing the Center for Pedagogical Activities (Centro de Atividades Pedagógicas) -(CAP-SP).
Teacher Doc. Lino de Macedo
  • Professor of Post Graduation Course in  School Psychology and Human Development, at the University of São Paulo (USP), where he directed over 60 theses and dissertations;
  • Coordinates the Laboratory of Educational Psychology (LaPp) in the context of games workshops for professionals and students of Basic Education.
